The Story Behind

Storytelling in Moments of Social Tension

Protecting Diversity was created to explore how communities experience fear and uncertainty during periods of heightened public tension. At its centre is a personal testimony reflecting lived experience, designed to humanise complex social narratives and create space for empathy, understanding, and dialogue around inclusion and safety.

The Challenge

Building Trust in Sensitive Environments

Periods of social unrest often amplify fear, misinformation, and division, particularly within minority communities. The challenge was to present a sensitive lived experience responsibly while ensuring the narrative strengthened trust, avoided polarisation, and supported constructive engagement between communities and public institutions.

Our Approach

Trusted Voices for Community Safety

Delivered in partnership with a local community interest organisation, the project prioritised authentic lived experience as the foundation for engagement. By centring personal testimony within a structured community safety narrative, the film created a trusted communication tool for dialogue between residents, organisations, and public sector stakeholders.
