The Story Behind
Narrative That Creates Social Impact
Born from firsthand experiences within a medical environment, Out of Control was developed in response to the growing reality of late-stage cancer diagnoses across underserved communities. The project was created not simply as entertainment, but as a strategic storytelling initiative designed to challenge stigma, increase awareness around early testing, and foster meaningful public conversation.
By combining cinematic storytelling with socially conscious advocacy, the film demonstrates how creative media can become a powerful vehicle for education, community mobilisation, and long-term cultural change.
The Challenge
Delivering Impact Against the Odds
Developing a socially driven health narrative within an underrepresented market came with significant operational and infrastructural barriers. Industry skepticism around audience engagement with cancer-related stories created early resistance, while securing functional oncology locations and specialist partnerships in Nigeria presented additional production complexities.
Without access to institutional funding at inception, the project was independently driven through strategic resilience, lean production management, and the cultivation of cross-sector partnerships spanning healthcare, hospitality, and the creative industries.
Our Approach
Strategic Storytelling with Community Reach
Out of Control was intentionally designed as a high-impact narrative balancing emotional authenticity with clear public-health messaging: early detection saves lives.
Through an agile production framework, the project prioritised strategic collaboration over excessive overhead, enabling resources to be deployed efficiently while maintaining premium creative standards. Partnerships with organisations including Lakeshore Cancer Center and Twenty-5 Bar & Grill strengthened operational delivery, expanded audience reach, and reinforced the project’s community-led mission.
The result is a scalable storytelling model capable of supporting future advocacy campaigns, cultural engagement initiatives, and socially driven media partnerships.
