LOUD
LOUD is a visually driven silent short film confronting knife crime, youth violence, and gang culture through emotionally charged storytelling. Created alongside young people, the project transforms awareness into participation — empowering students to become advocates for prevention, dialogue, and long-term behavioural change within their communities.
Synopsis
Storytelling Designed to Interrupt Violence
Developed with secondary school students and a Coventry-based charity, LOUD explores the emotional realities behind knife carrying — fear, pressure, identity, and survival. Through symbolic visual storytelling rather than graphic violence, the project encourages reflection, prevention, and youth-led dialogue around violence affecting communities across the UK.

The Story Behind
Giving Young People a Voice
LOUD was created to address the growing impact of knife crime and youth violence through a more emotionally intelligent approach. Instead of speaking at young people, the project involved them directly in shaping the narrative, creating a platform where lived experiences, fears, and social pressures could be explored authentically.
The Challenge
Moving Beyond Traditional Awareness Campaigns
Many anti-violence campaigns struggle to connect with younger audiences due to repetitive messaging and fear-based communication. LOUD sought to break this pattern by creating a visually symbolic, silent narrative capable of generating emotional reflection while remaining accessible for schools, youth organisations, and community engagement programmes.
Our Approach
Youth-Led Creative Intervention
Working in partnership with local students and community stakeholders, the project combined film production with social engagement. By positioning young participants as collaborators rather than subjects, LOUD created stronger emotional ownership, authentic storytelling, and a more impactful behavioural messaging framework centred on prevention and awareness.
